Been too long, time for summer and time to sink your teeth into Passion Pit.

First found out about these guys on Kanye's blog, which goes to show that he is seriously broadening his horizons past his mullet. Their EP, Chunk of Change, is a little more raw than their danceable LP, Manners; to each his own I guess. Either way download and listen to the sweet electro sounds of the summer.

Handsome Furs, more like sexy bitches.

Floating through myspace bands today, I came across an old love of mine, Handsome Furs. These beauties are amazing so check 'em out on their myspace page; which has their new album, Face Control, to stream in it's entirety or you can download both their albums below. Cheers.

DOOM to Doves... what kind of music selection is this?

The Doves new album reminds me of an In-Flight Safety meets Supergrass meets 90s indie rock. Take a listen and enjoy some vocals from another member of the group; I'm not entirely sure which member, but I think the song might be my favorite on the album. Album link is below.

DOOM has been re-BORN LIKE THIS

I don't know what the title of this post is supposed to mean, but i never really know what I'm doing when I'm typing on here. DOOM's alter-ego King Geedora was the that inspired the creation of Craig Haas, not to mention so many other alter-ego's on the scene, so it's only fitting that he be on this blog at least once. His new album BORN LIKE THIS is classic DOOM, spitting mind blowing lyrics with grimy beats to back. So if you've been diggin' DOOM in the past or this is your first journey behind the metal mask take a deep listen. BTW, check out the brutal cover below, I couldn't open the post with this cause I feel like I could make this on photoshop as long as I took a couple pictures in an Egypt exhibit and got someone at art school to make this sand sculpture. The only hope this cover has is if the hieroglyphics say something profound or hilarious.

Animal Collective - My Girls; AND WHAT A VIDEO
Just thought I'd put this up here since it's MTV Canada's video/song of the day yesterday. Who would have ever though these guys would be mainstream? I'm not complaining, just watch and listen, the watch and listen an hour into zoomers then you'll understand.

Kanye West is now filed under weirdo.

All I wanted to do with this post was show that 808's was Kanye's musical effort at avant grande. Cause that didn't fly so well, I guess he decided to sport a Frullet (Afro-Mullet) in order to show how dedicated he was to the never will be mainstream or "cool" culture.

*** Correction, his American Idol performance showed no mullet, but still these pictures show his fancy gloves that he's still sporting.

tUnE-YaRdS is an ICQ lovin' hiphop Woody Guthrie

Who knew that capitalizing every second letter like back in the ICQ/IRC days could still make you cool. Well at least it gives you indie cred' I guess. So does face paint and colorful feathers as well. Who gives and eff what Merrill G's wearing, his music style is everything that Architecture in Helsinki has to offer in a single beatnik hipster.

Throwback to Vietnam

Quoting fellow blogger electriklife, "Brilliantly odd instrumental hip hop album here from Onra, compiled and constructed around vintage Vietnamese pop records picked up in flea markets on a trip to the far east. 32 short tracks make up "Chinoiseries", each of them clocking in at the 1 or 2 minute mark and delivering a tight selection of beats that somehow bring to mind J Dilla, Rza, Madlib, Moondog, MF Doom and the Sublime Frequencies label rolled into one beautifully incoherent package."

And for something completely different, Histiophryne Psychedelica!

A HUGE emphasis on the Psychedelica part. This "frogfish" is one of a kind, other frogfish swim, this guy's too lazy for that shit; he only hops. Check out this video, it's insane. He was seen once in 2006 and not again until January 2008, when the videos were taken. He supposedly is making his way to shallower waters to spawn, but who the hell knows what else is down there. Psychedelica is the rare also for having forward viewing eyes like humans. So my question is, are there "inteligent" hopping fish down there?

AHHH.... Well Isn't This Awkward...

Charles Hamilton's reminding me of what the ChiCity should have been producing with raps like Lupe Fiasco, and smooth soulful beats like Common's old Premier and Jay Dee produced shit. Plus anyone whosamples Fleetwood Mac and makes it sound smooth is solid in my books. Check out Charles Hamilton's new mixtape in the link below.

Junior Boyssssssssl
Alright ladies and gents, the new Junior Boy's album is going to be hitting the stands soon, so here's the best precurser to Begone Dull Care. Sounds like the same ol' boys, some of their other tracks are a little more grimier and... dull.

NASA Music Rocks The World From A Space Station
Couldn't hold off another blog since today is the start of something interesting. Check out the star studded cast on the debut NA.SA album; Ghostface, RZA, Methodman, Ol' Dirty, MIA, Santogold, David Byrne, Chuck D, Gift of Gab, Z-trip, KRS-One, Fat Lip, E-40, Kanye West, Scarface, DJ Qbert, Spank Rock, Cool Kids, Del the Funkee, George Clinton, Charli2na, Tom Waits, Kool Keith, John Fruscinate (Red Hot Chili's guitar player), Sue Jorge (Life Aquatic Soundtrack)... and i probably missed someone but fuck it's an awesome album. This production duo is bound to blast the earth; or some other planet, Mars or Pluto probably.
Here folks the "real" first edition
Sorry about all the confusion while starting this thing. I just thought it would be easier for all you guys to keep up with the music by RSS form than anything else. So here we go for the first time on the blog. If this first Peter Bjorn & John single, Nothing to Worry About, is a slight preview of their new album, then it's going to be another standout success.
